Recumbent Bicycle

In the last few years there have been many advances in bicycle technology and the recumbent bicycle has surged into popularity. If you are looking at some form of bicycle as a way to improve the quality of your workout routine and get your health and weight back under control, these styles of bicycle will only take you so far as they simply do not provide you with enough of a workout to do the job. In order for your body to get a good workout you must exercise as many muscles as you can. The Recumbent bicycle was originally invented for those people with back injuries that prevented them from being able to participate in many other forms of exercise. These cycles provide a low impact form of exercise, but at the same time they also only provide a low level of exercise. If you are looking for a bicycle that will still provide you with a low impact workout yet give you the type of maximum workout while still being able to enjoy the great outdoors then the Rowbike is a much better choice. The problem with the recumbent bicycle is that you basically sit in the seat and pedal along at a slow steady pace. With a Rowbike you propel yourself forward using the same rowing motion that you would use in a stationary rowing machine or in a rowboat out on the lake.

Research has shown that the motion of rowing is one of the best exercises possible for your body. Typically you use up to 84% of the muscles in your body when completing the rowing action. This makes for much stronger muscle tone throughout your body and help you to burn far more calories far faster than any other exercise. Again when you are sitting still in a recumbent bicycle, the number of calories you are likely to burn is only a limited number of calories as you are really only exercising your legs.

With the Rowbike you are exercising your entire upper body including the abs and back. In fact the exercise burns as much as 50% more calories than riding any other type of bike, yet it is gentle enough that people with back problems can ride safely. Doctors actually prescribe this exercise as a way for those with back problems to strengthen their back muscles without having to worry about straining them. While a Rowbike is considered a form of recumbent bicycle, the only real similarities are that you are seated in a recumbent position and that you steer both styles of bike with cables instead of the handlebars. At this point the similarities stop and the real exercise begins. If you are looking for a great low impact way to work out while still being outside in the fresh air contact Row Bike and take a test ride on one of their Rowbike models. If you are not completely satisfied they will happily refund the purchase price within 60 days of purchase.
